India eyes investment opportunities in CLMV

India is eyeing the huge opportunities in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam (CLMV) and wants Indian financial institutes to establish branches in the region to boost trade and investment between the two sides.

Addressing the third India – CLMV Business Conclave held last week at the Mamallapuram of India, the Indian Commerce Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said Indian banks have to establish networks in the four Southeast Asian nations to enable companies in India to expand their businesses in the region, the Indian publication Hindu Business Line reported last week.

The CLMV countries within ASEAN present a huge opportunity for Indian investors and businesses. Indian banks will have to set up a branch network to facilitate trade and provide business comfort, Ms Sitharaman was quoted as saying.
